EYE PYRAMID

SEH’s hub and spoke model allows the optimum use of resources across large geographical areas and deepens reach of quality eye care to the unreached community. At the primary level, SEH vision centres address basic eye care problem through general eye check-ups and Out Patient Services while referring more complex and surgery cases to secondary level hospital and main Hospital. At the next level, the secondary eye hospital (Branch Hospital) is equipped to handle General Ophthalmology services and Speciality services of Cataract, Glaucoma including In Patient and Out Patient care. The more complex cases from here too are referred to the tertiary hospital (Main Hospital). At the third level, the tertiary or hub facility is a high-end state-of-the-art centre incorporating comprehensive and super-specialty eye care facilities. Community outreach programmes are an intrinsic part of the spoke and hub model, and the focus area for all three levels of eye care is the belief that quality services must be delivered regardless of the ability to pay.
